Part-Time Temporary Rail Freight Operative
Temporary Opportunity – Approximately 3-4 Months
We are currently seeking a reliable and physically capable individual to join our team on a part-time temporary basis. This role would be ideal for a semi-retired person or anyone looking for one day of work per week over the next 3-4 months.
The Role
This is a unique position involving the preparation of rail freight vehicles for loading and unloading operations. Duties will include:
Opening and closing rail freight vehicle doors Carrying out basic walk-around safety checks Ensuring carriage lighting is operational Occasionally applying manual effort to operate door latches and mechanisms Supporting the safe and efficient movement of freight operations Working Hours Day: Monday Hours: 06:00 – 14:00 In most cases, the work may be completed earlier; however, a minimum of 8 hours will be paid each shift. Pay & Benefits £14.00 per hour (PAYE) PPE provided Minimum 8 hours paid per shift Requirements
Due to the nature of the work, applicants must:
Be fully mobile and physically fit Be comfortable working outdoors and around rail freight vehicles Provide their own safety footwear Successfully complete a Network Rail medical assessment and Drug & Alcohol screening prior to starting work Interested?
