About the Role
Reed Education is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school for a dedicated and nurturing Learning Support Assistant to join their Reception team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Early Years practitioner who is passionate about supporting young children during the crucial first stages of their education. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping children develop socially, emotionally, and academically, whilst creating a safe and engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support teaching and learning within a Reception classroom.
- Assist children with early literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
- Support learning through play and child-led activities.
- Help children develop positive social and emotional skills.
- Work with individuals and small groups to support learning and development.
- Foster a safe, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment.
- Support children with additional needs where required.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
- Assist with observations, assessments and learning records.
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence.
Essential Requirements
Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Early Years or Supporting Teaching and Learning (essential)
Experience working with children within an EYFS or Reception setting
Strong understanding of child development and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
A caring, patient and enthusiastic approach
Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Desirable
- Paediatric First Aid qualification
- Experience supporting children with SEND
- Knowledge of phonics and early reading development
- Experience carrying out observations and assessments
