Legal Assistant – Private Client

We are seeking a dedicated Legal Assistant/Administrator to join our clients Private Client team based in York City Centre. This role offers a varied and engaging experience, providing crucial support to fee earners through a range of tasks including typing, file management, form completion, administration duties, and financial statement preparation.
Day to day of the role:
- Efficiently handle typing and editing of documents such as wills, meeting notes, client care letters, and other correspondence.
- Manage administrative tasks associated with fee-earners' files, including accurate and timely paper and online filing.
- Handle incoming and outgoing post and enclosures, photocopying, and scanning documents to required standards.
- Open new files, set up opportunities on the system, and ensure all necessary client information is accurately entered and updated.
- Assist with banking duties, including the finalisation and distribution of invoices.
- Deal professionally with clients and colleagues, both on the telephone and in person, ensuring optimum levels of client service.
- Make appointments, arrange meetings, and maintain up-to-date diaries for team members.
- Ensure the confidentiality and security of all firm and client documentation and information.
- Comply with the firm’s Lexcel policies and handle ID checks in accordance with AML procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Client-focused with a commitment to delivering first-class service.
- Experience within a legal secretary/assistant position – preferably private client
- Excellent attention to detail and a common-sense approach to tasks.
- Ability to work efficiently and organize tasks effectively.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to listen well and convey information clearly.
- Team-oriented, with a willingness to support colleagues and contribute to department meetings.
- Enthusiastic about learning and personal development.
- Professional demeanor with a good sense of humour and a desire for long-term career engagement.
