We are a friendly and well-established law firm based in York, looking for a motivated and organised Legal Assistant to join our busy team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to develop a long-term career within the legal profession.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have previous experience working in a legal environment; however, we will also consider applicants with strong administrative experience, excellent organisational skills, and a genuine interest in building a career in law.
The Role
As a Legal Assistant, you will provide essential support to our solicitors and fee earners, helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of client matters.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing legal documents and correspondence
- Managing client files and maintaining accurate records
- Liaising with clients and third parties in a professional manner
- Answering telephone enquiries and providing administrative support
- Diary management and arranging appointments
- General office administration and document management
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a legal assistant, legal secretary or other legal support role (desirable)
- Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A professional, friendly and proactive approach
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- The ability to manage a varied workload and work effectively as part of a team
Candidates without legal experience who can demonstrate exceptional administrative skills, a willingness to learn and a genuine interest in the legal profession are also encouraged to apply.
