Key Responsibilities

  • Advising on a wide range of commercial and residential property matters, including acquisitions and disposals (asset and corporate), leasing, and development projects.
  • Drafting, negotiating, and reviewing commercial leases, agreements for lease, licences, deeds of variation, and related documentation.
  • Managing contentious property matters, including landlord and tenant disputes, working with external counsel where required and ensuring matters are handled efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Supporting the business on property-related litigation strategy, risk assessment, and dispute resolution.
  • Drafting and negotiating commercial and supplier contracts connected to the property portfolio.
  • Providing clear, pragmatic legal advice to non-legal stakeholders, balancing legal risk with commercial objectives.
  • Managing external advisers and contributing to continuous improvement of internal legal processes.
  • Handling ad hoc legal matters as required within a small, collaborative in-house team.

Experience & Qualifications

  • UK-qualified solicitor with significant post-qualification experience in commercial real estate, either in-house or in private practice.
  • Strong background in commercial leasing and landlord & tenant work.
  • Experience handling or overseeing property-related disputes or litigation.
  • Exposure to acquisitions, disposals, and development projects is essential.
  • Experience within a property investment, asset management, or real estate-led business is highly desirable.
  • Hotel or leisure sector property experience is beneficial but not essential.

Skills & Attributes

  • Commercially astute with a practical, solution-focused approach.
  • Confident advising senior stakeholders and working autonomously.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Able to manage a varied workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative team player with strong attention to detail.

Working Pattern & Benefits

  • Hybrid working: four days office-based, one day working from home.
  • Competitive salary of £80,000 – £90,000, depending on experience.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including generous annual leave, pension contribution, and private healthcare.
