Locum Planning and Highways Lawyer – East Midlands – Full Time – Primarily Remote Working – Up to £65 per hour Umbrella
Venn Group’s specialist Public Sector Legal team is currently recruiting for a Locum Planning Lawyer to join a well-regarded Local Authority in the East Midlands on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planning lawyer to support a busy legal team on a flexible basis.
Role Details:
- Position: Locum Planning and Highways Lawyer
- Working Arrangement: Full Time preferred, but will consider 3 days+
- Committee Attendance: Desirable, but not essential
- Duration: 3–6 months
- Rate: Up to £65 per hour Umbrella
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing and negotiating Section 106 Agreements
- Drafting Highways Agreements under Sections 38 and 278 of the Highways Act
- Advising on complex planning and highways matters
- Providing advice on policy and strategic planning issues
- Delivering general legal advice relating to planning and highways law
- Supporting officers and stakeholders with a broad range of planning matters
Candidate Requirements:
- Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive (or equivalent)
- Over 5 years' PQE preferred
- Strong experience drafting Section 106 Agreements
- Experience preparing Section 38 and Section 278 Agreements is desirable
- Experience within Local Government is highly desirable
Applicants with strong planning experience and a willingness to develop highways expertise will also be considered.
