Octavius Finance, a specialist recruiter within financial markets, is working with a highly regarded boutique asset manager seeking to hire a Global Equity Analyst to join its growing investment team.
Following a period of significant asset growth, our clients Global Income fund now oversees £5bn, and is looking to make a key hire to support the continued expansion of its investment team. This role represents an opportunity to join a lean, high-conviction team with direct exposure to the investment process and a clearly defined pathway towards a Portfolio Management position for the right individual over time.
The successful candidate will join a fundamental, long-term investment team focused on identifying high-quality businesses and uncovering differentiated sources of alpha across global equity markets. Working closely with Portfolio Managers and other investment professionals, the individual will be responsible for generating investment ideas, conducting deep fundamental research and contributing to the continued development of the strategy.
This is an excellent opportunity for a buy-side equity analyst with broad sector experience who is looking to take ownership of research, work within a collaborative investment environment and develop towards a future Portfolio Management role. The team is particularly interested in candidates who have experience within smaller, entrepreneurial asset managers where analysts are encouraged to think independently, generate ideas and take ownership of their coverage.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting fundamental equity research across global markets and sectors.
- Identifying and developing differentiated investment ideas with long-term alpha potential.
- Performing detailed company analysis, including business models, financial performance, competitive positioning and valuation.
- Supporting Portfolio Managers with idea generation, portfolio construction and investment discussions.
- Building and maintaining relationships with company management teams and industry contacts.
- Producing high-quality investment research and presenting recommendations to the wider team.
- Monitoring existing holdings and assessing changes to investment theses over time.
- Supporting thematic research initiatives and identifying broader market opportunities.
Requirements
- ~3 – 8 years’ experience in global equity research, ideally on the buyside.
- Candidates with thematic investing experience are strongly encouraged to apply
- Candidates with L/S Equity exposure are also encouraged to apply.
- Buy-side equity research experience with a strong track record of fundamental analysis.
- Broad generalist equity experience across sectors and geographies.
- Experience working within an asset manager, particularly a smaller or specialist investment firm.
- Strong ability to identify investment opportunities through bottom-up research.
- Long-term investment mindset with a focus on business quality, valuation and sustainable value creation.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to develop independent investment views.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to contribute within a small, collaborative team environment.
