Maintenance Engineer – Mechanical or Electrical
Dudley, West Midlands
£40,000 – £45,000 + Overtime
Rotating 2 Shift Pattern (6am–2pm / 2pm–10pm)
We are recruiting for two Maintenance Engineers (1 Mechanical, 1 Electrical) to join a well-established steel processing company in Dudley. This is a full-time, permanent role offering long-term career stability, strong overtime potential, and a supportive team environment.
Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities:

Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems

Carry out welding, fabrication, and mechanical repairs

Oxy-acetylene burning and bench fitting
-
General mechanical maintenance to reduce downtime
Electrical Engineer Responsibilities:
-
Fault-finding on motors, sensors, switches, and control systems
-
Basic electrical maintenance and repairs
-
Support mechanical team with electrical fault diagnosis
-
Ensure safe operation of electrical systems
General Responsibilities:
-
Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across plant machinery

Respond to breakdowns to minimize production disruption

Maintain accurate maintenance records and shift reports
-
Operate forklifts, cherry pickers, and overhead cranes as needed
Candidate Requirements:
-
NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical)

Time-served apprenticeship preferred
-
Experience in heavy industry or manufacturing
-
Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
-
Team player with a proactive approach
Benefits:

£40,000 – £45,000 including shift allowance
