Static Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias)
Reports to: Contract Manager
Lateral Relationships: Regional Manager
Role Purpose
As a Static Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering planned and reactive maintenance across a modern client site. You will ensure mechanical and electrical building services are maintained safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with statutory and operational standards.
You will support the Contract Manager in maintaining high levels of service delivery, responding to faults and emergencies, and ensuring all plant and equipment remains fully operational.
This is a brand-new role on a flagship GPE site in Piccadilly, working within a well-supported team environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesPlanned & Reactive Maintenance

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across electrical and mechanical systems

Diagnose and repair faults across building services, including HVAC, lighting, small power, pumps, generators, and associated plant

Respond to BMS alarms and use systems for first-line diagnostics
Systems, Compliance & Documentation

Complete all CAFM tasks via SimPRO, ensuring accurate updates and photographic evidence where required

Maintain site logbooks covering electrical, mechanical, water systems and H&S compliance
-
Support statutory compliance and escalate issues preventing completion of planned maintenance
Plant Operations & Site Management

Operate and monitor building systems including start-up, shutdown, changeover, and emergency procedures

Carry out regular site inspections and housekeeping walk-rounds to ensure plant rooms are clean, safe, and compliant

Maintain optimum environmental conditions through effective use of BMS controls
Health & Safety

Ensure all work is carried out in line with Electricity at Work Regulations and safe systems of work

Identify and report hazards immediately to the Contract Manager

Isolate, make safe, and verify systems where required
Stakeholder & Team Communication
-
Communicate effectively with clients, end users, subcontractors, and internal teams
-
Provide regular updates on work progress and operational impact
-
Work collaboratively within a wider FM and engineering team on site
Additional Duties
-
Carry out minor installation and repair works as required
-
Support knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across the team

Work flexibly to meet operational requirements, including occasional overtime
Call-Out / On-Call Rota
-
Yes – participation in an on-call rota is required
-
Commences after successful completion of probation
-
Paid standby arrangement
-
Typically 1 week in every 2 months

Average call-outs currently approx. 2 per week
Skills, Qualifications & ExperienceEssential
-
City & Guilds Level 2/3 (or equivalent) in Electrical discipline
-
18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations
-
Strong Building Services / M&E maintenance experience
-
Good understanding of Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
-
Proven fault-finding experience across electrical and mechanical systems

Experience working with HVAC, lighting, pumps, generators, and switchgear
Desirable

Mechanical qualification (Level 2/3)

City & Guilds 2391 Electrical Inspection & Testing

IOSH Working Safely
-
PASMA and IPAF (1b/3a/3b)

Experience with BMS systems and controls
-
Legionella awareness (ACOP L8), cooling towers, pressurisation systems

High Voltage awareness or certification
-
Unvented hot water systems training
Team Structure & Support
This is a new static role supporting a flagship GPE site in Piccadilly.
You will be part of a well-supported environment including:

A wider on-site engineering and FM team for technical support and knowledge sharing

A dedicated Contract Manager providing direct operational leadership
-
A dedicated GPE contract support function to assist with administration, coordination, and workflow management
You will not be working in isolation and will have access to experienced colleagues across the wider contract.
