The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established and growing manufacturing business based in Birmingham. Working as part of a close-knit engineering team, you will support the maintenance of a variety of production machinery through planned preventative maintenance, reactive breakdown response and continuous improvement activities, helping to ensure maximum equipment reliability and minimal production downtime.
Sector: Manufacturing / Factory Maintenance
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production machinery
- Support response to electrical and mechanical breakdowns in a timely manner
- Assist in diagnosing faults and carrying out effective repairs to minimise downtime
- Support continuous improvement projects to improve machinery reliability and efficiency
- Complete maintenance documentation accurately
- Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to maximise plant performance
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with company procedures
Essential Requirements
- Previous maintenance engineering experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding skills
- Experience supporting planned, reactive and breakdown maintenance activities
- Recognised mechanical engineering qualification
- A proactive approach with good problem-solving abilities
Desirable Experience
- Experience working within UK manufacturing
- Exposure to automated production machinery
- Continuous improvement experience
