Mechanical Engineer
Salary: £43,000 per annum
Overtime: Available and paid at time and a half
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off / 4 on and 4 nights
Location: Central London
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a well-established estates and engineering team supporting a complex, safety-critical environment for a prestigious Private Hospital in London.
You will play a key role in ensuring the safety, reliability and statutory compliance of critical mechanical infrastructure across a multi-building estate.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on mechanical plant and systems
- Diagnose and rectify faults through reactive maintenance
- Maintain compliance with relevant statutory regulations and standards
- Operate and monitor Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Respond to mechanical breakdowns and emergency situations, acting as a first responder when required (training provided)
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation
- Work collaboratively with engineering, fabric and estates colleagues to support uninterrupted service delivery
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ post-qualification experience in mechanical building services or facilities maintenance
- Qualifications at HNC/HND / Level 4 or 5 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Strong working knowledge of:
- HVAC systems
- Plumbing and water systems
- Refrigeration
- Understanding of safe systems of work and health & safety legislation
- Good communication skills and the ability to work under pressure in a demand-led environment

Additional Information
- This is a shift-based role covering both days and nights
- Appointment is subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks
- The successful candidate will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check
