Maintenance Technician

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Technician to join our team in a busy manufacturing/production environment. This role is crucial for maintaining, repairing, and improving both production and facility equipment, ensuring compliance with current legislation, health & safety standards, and site maintenance systems. As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting production operations.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and routine equipment checks.
- Diagnose faults and respond promptly to site breakdowns.
- Perform reactive and proactive maintenance to minimise downtime.
- Support production teams as required to meet operational demands.
- Complete weekly site inspections and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Carry out equipment installations and modifications in line with current regulations.
- Ensure compliance with food hygiene and food safety standards at all times.
- Liaise with contractors and chaperone visitors when required.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping across work areas and workshops.
- Monitor spare parts stock levels and report requirements.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Ensure clear communication and effective handovers between shifts.
- Undertake any additional reasonable duties as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Relevant engineering qualification (minimum NVQ Level 2 or 3 / Engineering NC).
- Electrical or mechanical bias (multi-skilled preferred).
- Electrical competency (e.g., 18th Edition desirable).
- Experience working in a manufacturing, food, or production environment.
- Confident using hand and power tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable (but not essential):
- PLC and drive experience.
- Plumbing or HVAC knowledge.
- Ducting, pipework, or ventilation experience.
- Metalwork and TIG welding (stainless steel) experience.
