Job Title: Male Support Worker – Brain Injury Support
Pay Rate: £16.50 PAYE per hour weekdays | £17.50 PAYE per hour weekends | £18.00 PAYE per hour Bank Holidays
Hours: Part-time – Tuesdays 8:00am – 10:00pm (14-hour shift) plus additional cover shifts for annual leave and sickness
Location: East Cowick, Goole
Job Type: Temporary with ongoing opportunities

Salary & Benefits

About the Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Male Support Worker to provide 1:1 support to a 51-year-old gentleman living with a brain injury.

The client is a wheelchair user and requires support with all aspects of daily living, including personal care, moving and handling, and accessing the community. He enjoys maintaining his independence and benefits from consistent support from individuals who can build positive working relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.

The role requires patience, resilience, and confidence when supporting behaviours that can be challenging. The client can communicate independently, although he may occasionally need support to repeat information to ensure understanding.

Additional shifts may become available to cover annual leave, sickness, and service requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing all aspects of personal care
  • Supporting with moving and transfers using appropriate equipment and techniques
  • Assisting with daily routines and activities
  • Supporting community access and appointments
  • Promoting independence and choice wherever possible
  • Providing emotional support and companionship
  • Managing and responding appropriately to behaviours that may challenge
  • Following care plans, risk assessments, and support strategies
  • Maintaining accurate records and effective communication with the wider support team

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous care or support work experience
  • Experience supporting individuals with brain injuries (preferred)
  • Experience managing behaviours that challenge (preferred)
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Confidence working independently and using initiative
  • A Full UK Driving Licence
  • Access to your own vehicle
  • Experience with moving and handling or willingness to undertake training

Holiday Pay Information

Our advertised PAYE rates include 12.07% holiday pay. You have full flexibility over how this is paid:

  • Take it weekly as part of your pay, or
  • Accrue it separately and use it when you take time off

There is no expiry on accrued holiday pay – it is always available when you need it.
