Management Accountant
London (3 days in the office and 2 from home)
£60,000 – £70,000
A leading international law firm is looking for a Management Accountant to join its London-based finance team. The business has a sizeable finance function across multiple offices and is focused on accurate, timely and commercially useful reporting.
This role sits within the Reporting and Analysis team and will play a key part in supporting UK monthly reporting, budgeting, reconciliations and wider finance processes. It is a strong opportunity for a confident accountant who enjoys ownership, stakeholder interaction and process improvement.
Duties
- Produce UK monthly management accounts, including P&Ls, balance sheet and supporting reporting packs.
- Prepare variance analysis and investigate movements against budget.
- Support month-end and year-end close to ensure timely production of management accounts.
- Prepare headcount and other KPI reports, highlighting variances and investigating issues.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations across areas such as intercompany, accounts payable, bank loans, debtors, creditors and PAYE.
- Maintain UK accruals, prepayments and support the fixed asset register.
- Review overhead expenditure reports and work with business support owners to understand variances and budget impact.
- Support annual budgeting, audit work, ad hoc reporting and finance projects.
- Help maintain general ledger setups and improve management accounts processes and systems.
Ideal candidate profile
- Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant, ACCA, CIMA or ACA.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant finance or accounting experience.
- Confident management accountant with strong month-end, reconciliations and variance analysis experience.
- Understanding of multicurrency bookkeeping and statutory requirements.
- Good working knowledge of Excel and comfortable using finance systems.
- Accurate, organised and able to work to tight deadlines.
- Able to communicate clearly with non-finance stakeholders.
- Process improvement mindset with the ability to identify and deliver efficiencies.
- Previous legal sector experience, CRM exposure, 3E or similar finance system experience would be advantageous.
