Outline
As Head of the Development Corporation, provide strategic leadership, professional support and mentoring, direction and operational management of the organisation to support economic development in the Falkland Islands. The MD must ensure that the Corporation delivers on its objectives as set out in Its Ordinance and Business Plan as follows: FIDC's purposes are- (a) to advise on and implement the economic strategies of the Falkland Islands Government; and (b) to take what further steps are required to ensure the successful development of businesses and a positive business environment in the Falkland Islands.
Responsibilities
Job Facts and Figures:
- Commercial Loans approved by FIDC in 2025/26 = c£1m.
- FIDC administered approved grants in 2025/26 = c£250k.
Subsidiary: Falkland Islands Meat Company
Financial:
- Capital Funds £ 4.6m
- Core Budget 2025/26 circa c£1m
This position calls for the ability to inspire, lead and develop an organisation under the general guidance of a Development Board. This post is broadly equivalent to that of Managing Director of a SME.
