Mechanical Design Engineer Rugby £45,000 – £60,000 DOE

SF Engineering are recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer who will be a key member of the Engineering Department, providing expertise in the design, manufacture, and repair of complex machinery. The role will support the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions across a variety of projects.

Mechanical Design Engineer Key Responsibilities:

– Lead the mechanical design of machinery, including stators, rotors, assemblies, upgrades, and retrofit projects – Provide engineering leadership across all project phases, working closely with clients and stakeholders – Use simulation and modelling tools to validate performance and compliance with requirements – Oversee and participate in testing activities, both in-factory and on-site – Carry out diagnostics, condition analysis, and life-cycle evaluations, producing clear technical reports – Deliver service and maintenance support to ensure reliability and long-term asset performance – Partner with tendering and project management teams on bids, proposals, and execution – Develop and implement test methodologies for dynamic machinery testing, analysing performance data – Perform root cause analysis on machinery failures and recommend corrective actions – Produce repair instructions and technical documentation to guide the recovery of failed or degraded equipment.

Mechanical Design Engineer skills and experiences:

– Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline – Experience in detailed design of rotating machinery such as motors, generators, turbines, pumps, or similar equipment – Strong expertise in mechanical design, simulation, and testing methodologies – Collaborate with CAD engineers and draughtsmen to review engineering drawings and support design and manufacturing processes – Proficient in diagnostics, failure analysis, and life assessment of machinery – Knowledge of manufacturing, commissioning, and service activities for large-scale equipment – Excellent problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on approach – Strong communication and leadership abilities, with experience mentoring junior engineers
