We are actively recruiting for an experienced Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Manager to lead the delivery of housing repairs and maintenance services for a Local Authority in Berkshire.
This is a key interim leadership role responsible for overseeing gas, plumbing, and electrical workstreams, ensuring high-quality, compliant, and customer-focused service delivery across responsive repairs, planned maintenance, and external contracts.
The Role:
As M&E Manager, you will:
- Lead the operational delivery of M&E services across the housing stock
- Manage and develop multidisciplinary teams, including supervisors, operatives, and subcontractors
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and all relevant building legislation
- Drive performance against KPIs, embedding a strong “right first time” culture
- Hold full responsibility for budget management, workforce planning, and service efficiency
- Use performance data to identify trends and deliver continuous improvement
- Manage complex issues, including escalated complaints, member enquiries, and employee relations matters
- Support and lead service transformation initiatives
About You:
- An HNC or higher qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering
- Strong experience within housing, local authority, or property services
- A proven track record managing large teams, contractors, and operational delivery
- In-depth knowledge of M&E compliance, statutory regulations, and health & safety standards
- Experience managing budgets and delivering value for money
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills
- A proactive and results-driven approach to service delivery and improvement
