The Role
We are currently recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Engineer (Mechanical Bias) to join a well-established food manufacturing site in Ipswich. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a fast-paced production environment, supporting site performance and reliability through proactive and reactive maintenance.
Working on a Panama shift pattern (rotating days and nights), you will play a key role in ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining high engineering standards across the site.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across production machinery
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults efficiently to minimise downtime
- Support electrical fault finding where required (basic level)
- Work on a variety of food processing and packaging equipment
- Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety, and hygiene standards
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Accurately complete all maintenance documentation and reports
About You
- Apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or equivalent)
- Strong mechanical engineering background with some electrical knowledge
- Experience working in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment (highly desirable)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexible approach to work and comfortable working day and night shifts
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset
