Due to continued growth, the organisation is expanding its team of Learning & Development Coaches and is keen to speak with experienced mechanical engineers from industry who want to transition into training and development.
As a Learning & Development Coach, you will support apprentices across a range of mechanical engineering standards, including: Engineering & Manufacturing Support Technician – Level 3, Machining Technician – Level 3, Engineering Fitter – Level 3, Engineering Maintenance Technician – Level 3 and Engineering Operative – Level 2. You will work with apprentices throughout their programme, visiting them in the workplace every 6-8 weeks, with remote support in between visits.
You'll help apprentices apply what they learn in the training centre to real, day-to-day engineering tasks on site. You'll also work closely with employers to track progress, provide coaching, and ensure apprentices are developing the skills, behaviours, and confidence required in modern engineering environments.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Engineer, Machinist, or Engineering Technician role and be looking to move off the tools by moving into a coaching and mentoring role.

The Role: *Supporting and assessing engineering apprentices in the workplace *Planning and reviewing individual learning plans in partnership with learners and employers *Monitoring progress and providing timely guidance *Maintaining compliance with apprenticeship standards and documentation *Liaising with employers and acting as a key point of contact for apprentice development *Hybrid working with one admin day in Havant and flexible site visits across a manageable geographic area (~30 miles around Portsmouth)
The Person *Background as a Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Engineer, Machinist, or similar engineering role *Experience aligned to mechanical / manufacturing environments *A genuine interest in coaching, mentoring, or developing people *Previous training, assessing, or teaching experience is beneficial but not essential *Willingness to work towards an assessing or teaching qualification (full support provided)*Minimum Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy
