Multi-skilled Operative

Salary up to £34,161.33 Per annum, plus, company van & fuel card
37 hours per week (Monday- Friday)
About the role:
We’re looking for a reliable and skilled Multi Skilled Operative to join our team, delivering planned external works across a social housing contract in Rotherham. This role focuses on completing pre-scheduled programmes of work to improve and maintain external elements of residents’ homes, helping to enhance safety, appearance, and long-term condition.
You’ll carry out a wide range of external repair and maintenance works, which will include brickwork repairs, external carpentry, replace and repair roofs, including roof tiles/lats, felting roofs, drip trays, remove/re bedding of tiles and install dry roof systems. Working from planned schedules, you’ll be expected to complete work efficiently, safely, and to a high standard, following specifications and programme timelines.
As you’ll be working in residential areas, a professional and considerate approach is essential. You’ll liaise with residents and site teams as needed, take pride in quality workmanship, and ensure all work is completed right first time. Duties:
- Carry out scheduled planned maintenance and refurbishment works across external social housing properties
- Complete external carpentry repairs and replacements, including facias, soffits, and rain water goods
- Carry out minor external building works, including making good brickwork, rendering repairs, and patch repairs
- Complete external plastering and rendering touch-ups as required following programmed works
- Undertake external roofing works, re-bedding and re-pointing roof tiles
- Identify and rectify minor associated issues encountered during planned works and report any additional repairs outside scope
- Ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with planned work schedules and specifications
- Work on occupied and unoccupied properties with consideration for residents and surrounding environments
- Liaise with supervisors and site teams to ensure works are delivered to programme and quality standards
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and follow-on actions using handheld devices or job sheets
- Deliver a high standard of customer service when interacting with residents during planned external works
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in good working order
- Manage workload effectively to meet planned works targets and timescales
- Working at heights on roofing systems
Key Criteria:
- Proven experience delivering planned maintenance or refurbishment works, ideally within social housing or domestic properties
- Strong multi-trade background with skills in external carpentry, basic building works, rendering/plastering,
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to work independently while following programmes and specifications set by supervisors
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements, including safe external working practices
- Strong attention to quality and finish on planned works projects
- Experience working around occupied properties in a professional and considerate manner
- Ability to accurately record work using handheld devices or job management systems including dashboard compliance
- Repairs including felt, rubber/liquid roof systems experience, would be an advantage
