Own Your New Business Portfolio – Win Deals & Build Broker Relationships from Day One
We're recruiting for a New Business Trading Underwriter to join a leading UK insurer's Manchester's team, managing your own P&L portfolio and driving regional growth through broker partnerships and commercial decision-making.
This role offers clear underwriting authority to manage new business across Property and Liability, with genuine exposure to broker trading, portfolio ownership, and technical decision-making. You'll work autonomously within your authority while collaborating with colleagues across underwriting, trading, and operations to deliver quality outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite new business submissions across Property and Liability within your delegated authority, assessing risk exposure and making sound commercial pricing decisions
- Build and maintain strong broker relationships through regular engagement, providing technical guidance and supporting brokers with competitive positioning
- Manage your portfolio autonomously to deliver growth targets while maintaining underwriting discipline and service standards
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to identify opportunities, resolve complex issues, and achieve consistent business outcomes
Qualifications
- Proven experience underwriting commercial or mid-market P&L risks, with strong technical capability and commercial judgment
- Excellent broker-facing and relationship management skills combined with confident decision-making ability
- Solid understanding of FCA regulation and underwriting governance, with experience working in large, established insurance organizations
