Job Title – Night Shift Maintenance Engineer
Location – Basildon, Essex
Salary – £52,634
Shift – Nights (10pm – 6am, Mon–Fri, flexibility available)
Job Role of the Night Shift Maintenance Engineer
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Night Shift Maintenance Engineer to join a large-scale, highly automated manufacturing facility within a globally recognised organisation. This site has recently seen significant investment and offers a modern, open-plan production environment with excellent long-term career prospects.
Working as part of a small, skilled night engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance across complex production lines. This is a key role focused on maximising equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and improving overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
The site operates advanced, high-speed processes including chemical handling, heating, and precision manufacturing, offering engineers exposure to specialist equipment within a COMAH-regulated environment.

Non-Negotiable Requirements of the Night Shift Maintenance Engineer
- Maintenance experience within a manufacturing or forces background
- Level 3 in Engineering or above
Requirements for the Night Shift Maintenance Engineer
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience with PPM systems and continuous improvement
- Understanding of Health & Safety regulations within manufacturing
- Engineering qualification (apprentice trained or equivalent)
Desirable Requirements for the Night Shift Maintenance Engineer
- Experience working in a COMAH or highly regulated environment
- Exposure to high-speed or automated production lines
- Basic electrical fault-finding capability
- Experience using CMMS systems
