Nurture Teacher (SEND) | Secondary School

Salary: £34,398 – £48,913 per year (M1 – UPS1 Fringe)

Bonus: £5,000 Welcome Bonus for qualified teachers*

Location: Surrey (including a satellite site as required)

Hours: 40 hours per week

Start: 8:15am

Finish: Mon/Wed/Thu 4:45pm, Tue 5:00pm, Fri 4:00pm

Contract: Permanent, Full-Time

About the School: 

We’re proud to be recruiting on behalf of a new and growing SEND secondary school for young people aged 11–16. The school supports students with:

  • Social communication needs
  • Emotional regulation challenges
  • Sensory processing differences (often associated with Autism)

The Role:

As a Nurture Teacher, you will deliver high-quality teaching and support to students with additional needs, including autism and complex learning difficulties.Some pupils may display challenging behaviours, so a calm, supportive and adaptable approach is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and support a creative, inclusive curriculum
  • Work closely within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Plan and deliver lessons (short, medium & long-term)
  • Set and review individual learning targets
  • Monitor progress and provide reports to parents, team members, senior staff, examination and funding bodies
  • Contribute to EHCPs, PEPs, LAC reviews and annual reviews
  • Maintain an engaging and structured learning environment
  • Stay up to date with best practice in autism education
  • Manage behaviour in line with school policies
  • Be flexible and support across the school where needed

What We’re Looking For:

Essential:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

Experience in SEND settings, especially with ASC

Ability to deliver a differentiated curriculum

Strong knowledge of the national curriculum

Understanding of ASC and SEMH needs

Desirable:

  • Additional SEND qualifications
  • Curriculum development experience for SEND learners
  • Knowledge of co-occurring conditions linked to autism
