We are seeking a resilient, adaptable, and confident Cover Supervisor to support a range of secondary schools across Okehampton. In this pivotal role, you will supervise classes during short-term teacher absences, ensuring pupils remain engaged and learning continues effectively. This position is ideal for individuals with strong behaviour-management skills, a calm and professional manner, and the ability to build rapport quickly with students.Key Responsibilities

Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials to classes across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Manage student behaviour in line with school policies, maintaining a positive, safe learning environment.

Ensure pupils stay on task, offering support and clarification where needed (teaching is not required).

Follow safeguarding procedures and escalate concerns appropriately.

Keep accurate records of attendance, behaviour, and completed work.

Adapt quickly to different school settings, year groups, and subject areas as needed.

Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and senior leaders.
Person Specification
Essential:

Strong classroom-management skills and confidence working with young people.

Calm, resilient, and able to think on your feet in fast-paced situations.

Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Professional, reliable, and able to build positive relationships.

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
Desirable:

Experience working in education, youth work, coaching, mentoring, or similar roles.

Degree or relevant qualifications (not essential).

Familiarity with Plymouth secondary schools or local communities.
