Part-Time Financial Accountant (Maternity Cover)

Role Purpose
We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Part-Time Financial Accountant to join on a fixed-term maternity cover contract. This is a varied, hands-on role responsible for supporting the financial operations of the business.
We are a recruitment business that supplies both contract and permanent staff so any understanding of the recruitment industry or contractor processes would be highly advantageous.
The successful candidate will oversee month-end accounting processes, cash flow management, invoicing, banking, compliance activities, and general finance administration. They will work closely with internal stakeholders, clients, suppliers, and external advisors to ensure the finance function operates efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Month-End Processes
- Prepare journals, reconciliations, and month-end reports.
- Review transactions and investigate discrepancies.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts.
Cash Flow Management
- Prepare and maintain weekly cash flow forecasts.
- Monitor cash balances and identify funding requirements.
- Support budgeting and financial planning activities.
Invoicing & Bookkeeping
- Raise contract and placement invoices.
- Manage client invoicing portals.
- Process supplier invoices and maintain accurate records.
Accounts Payable
- Prepare supplier payment runs, resolve supplier queries and account discrepancies.
- Monitor outstanding liabilities and payment schedules.
Contract & Timesheet Administration
- Process contractor payments accurately and on time.
- Support ad hoc client and contractor finance requests.
- Assist with resolving timesheet and payment-related queries.
Reporting & Business Support
- Prepare and maintain weekly cash flow forecasts.
- Prepare board packs and management reports.
- Produce ad hoc financial reports and analysis.
Compliance & Audit
- Support audits, lender reporting, and annual budgeting.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and financial regulations.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a finance or accounting role.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability.
- Proficient in Excel and Xero accounting software.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
