Sheridan Maine is partnering with a well-established, multi-site organisation in Poole to recruit an experienced Payroll & Accounts Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional with strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, HMRC compliance, and statutory payments to join a stable and growing business.

Payroll & Accounts Assistant – Key Responsibilities As Payroll & Accounts Assistant, you will take full ownership of the payroll function, ensuring accurate and compliant payroll processing across multiple sites along with processing employee expenses, resolving any related queries, posting journals for payroll and employee credit cards.
• Manage end-to-end payroll for weekly and monthly payroll cycles • Process payroll for salaried and hourly employees, including overtime and variable pay • Administer new starters, leavers, salary changes, and payroll adjustments • Maintain accurate payroll records including tax codes, deductions, and pension contributions • Ensure full compliance with UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements • Submit FPS and EPS reports and manage year-end processes including P60s and P45s • Process statutory payments including SSP and SMP • Prepare payroll journals and support finance with reconciliations and year-end reporting • Submit P11D and P11D(b) returns • Respond to employee payroll queries in a timely and professional manner • Support payroll system upgrades, data validation, and continuous process improvement • Work collaboratively with HR and Finance to ensure payroll accuracy
Payroll & Accounts Assistant – Skills & Experience Required
• Proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing • Strong knowledge of UK payroll compliance and HMRC submissions • Experience processing statutory payments and pensions • Intermediate – Advanced Excel skills • High attention to detail and strong numerical accuracy • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
