Payroll Manager

Responsibilities

  • Taking ownership of the full delivery cycle for weekly and monthly payrolls across multiple entities, while stepping in as needed to support team operations.
  • Ensuring payroll compliance with statutory requirements, managing reporting obligations, and driving ongoing process improvements.
  • Reviewing and validating FPS submissions, ensuring accurate reconciliation with HMRC records.
  • Applying expertise in IR35 regulations, including carrying out status assessments and determinations.
  • Managing and mentoring a team of Payroll Seniors and Advisors, promoting a high-performing and collaborative environment.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience overseeing multiple payrolls within complex, multi-entity organisations.
  • At least five years' experience leading and managing payroll teams.
  • Strong leadership capability with a focus on coaching, mentoring, and team development.
  • Proficient in working with a range of payroll systems; experience with IRIS Cascade is highly advantageous.
  • Hands-on involvement in organisational changes, including acquisitions and TUPE transfers.
  • Meticulous and detail-oriented approach to auditing payroll calculations and processes.
  • Exposure to HRIS system implementations and upgrades is beneficial.
  • Holds a minimum CIPP Level 4 qualification (or an equivalent credential).
