Job Title: Planner Location: Belfast
Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a respected planning consultancy in their search for a Planner to join their Belfast office.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Planner to join a growing consultancy working across a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, mixed-use, renewable energy, and strategic development projects throughout Northern Ireland and Ireland. The successful candidate will benefit from strong client exposure, varied project work, and excellent opportunities for professional development within a collaborative environment.
THE ROLE
As a Planner, you will be involved in delivering planning projects from initial site appraisal through to planning application submission, negotiation, and determination.
You will manage your own projects while supporting senior colleagues on larger and more complex developments, helping clients navigate the planning process and unlock development opportunities.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for a Planner looking to further develop their planning expertise within a respected consultancy environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Managing planning applications and appeals across a range of development sectors * Preparing planning statements, appraisal reports, and supporting documentation * Undertaking site assessments and development feasibility studies * Advising clients on planning opportunities, constraints, and development strategies * Liaising with Planning Authorities, consultees, and stakeholders throughout Northern Ireland and Ireland * Attending client meetings, site visits, and planning consultations * Supporting project delivery across residential, commercial, renewable energy, and strategic development schemes * Contributing to business development and client relationship management
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
* Degree in Town Planning or related discipline * MRTPI qualified or working towards Chartership * Experience within a planning consultancy, developer, or local authority environment * Strong understanding of the planning systems in Northern Ireland and/or Ireland * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Strong organisational and project management abilities * Commercial awareness and a proactive approach * Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
