SRG
Platform Engineer – Manchester (2 days a week onsite)
Salary up to £65,000 + bonus
The Role
If you're an engineer who enjoys solving problems, building automation, and improving how teams work, this Platform Engineer role offers a chance to make a genuine impact.
You'll join a Platform Engineering team focused on enabling developers, reducing friction, and creating scalable solutions that make software easier to build, deploy, and operate. This isn't a role for someone who simply works through tickets; it's for someone who sees a problem and wants to engineer a better way of doing things.
The Opportunity
The team is investing heavily in automation, self-service capabilities, and modern platform engineering practices. You'll work closely with development teams to eliminate manual processes, improve developer experience, and build tooling that increases engineering velocity across the organisation.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys building solutions from scratch and wants to influence how platforms evolve over time.
What You'll Be Doing
- Building and maintaining infrastructure using Terraform, Ansible, and Python
- Supporting CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
- Working with Docker and Kubernetes to support modern containerised workloads
- Collaborating with development teams to improve reliability, scalability, and developer experience
- Automating repetitive operational activities and improving platform tooling
- Contributing to platform standards, documentation, and engineering best practices
Tech Stack
- AWS (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC)
- Terraform & Ansible
- Docker & Kubernetes
- Jenkins & Argo CD
- VMware environments
What We're Looking For
- Experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, Cloud Engineering, or Infrastructure Automation
- Strong Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes experience
- Good AWS knowledge and understanding of modern cloud environments
- A strong automation mindset and passion for continuous improvement
- Someone who enjoys learning new technologies and solving unfamiliar problems
- A builder's mentality, creating solutions rather than simply maintaining them
Why Apply?
You'll be joining a team that values engineering, automation, and innovation over process for process' sake. If you enjoy building platforms, improving developer experience, and solving meaningful technical challenges, this is an opportunity to help shape the next phase of a growing Platform Engineering function.
