Platform Engineer (Data Platforms)
Location: London
We're looking for a Platform Engineer to build and maintain scalable, secure and high-performance data platforms. You'll play a key role in ensuring reliable data services while working closely with data scientists, analysts and engineering teams.
What you'll be doing
- Building and maintaining scalable data platform infrastructure
- Ensuring high availability, performance and security of data services
- Developing and maintaining data pipelines
- Collaborating with data teams to integrate tools and services
- Troubleshooting complex platform and data infrastructure issues
- Supporting cross-team integration with wider systems and applications
- Driving improvements across platform architecture and design
What we're looking for
Essential:
- Strong experience in platform engineering / operations (Linux-based)
- Experience with data platforms or big data environments
- Understanding of data lake architectures and data governance
- Strong knowledge of security (encryption, access control, vulnerability management)
- Experience with scripting and automation (Python, Bash, Ansible, Puppet)
- Familiarity with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
Nice to have:
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins)
- Exposure to data tooling (Airflow, NiFi, Elasticsearch)
- Experience with Cloudera / Hadoop ecosystems (Spark, Hive, HDFS)
