About the Role
We are seeking a PMLD Learning Support Assistant to work within a specialist educational setting supporting pupils from Primary to Secondary age with complex needs.
Pupils you will support may have:
- Profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD)
- Physical disabilities and mobility needs
- Complex medical needs
- Sensory impairments (visual/hearing)
- Communication difficulties (non-verbal or limited communication)
This is a highly rewarding role where your support will have a direct impact on pupils’ quality of life, engagement, and development
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual needs
- Assist with personal care (feeding, toileting, hygiene) in a dignified manner
- Support pupils with PEG feeding (training/experience desirable)
- Use specialist equipment for manual handling and mobility support
- Engage pupils in sensory and therapeutic activities
- Support communication using tools such as PECS, Makaton, or visual aids
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and healthcare professionals
- Maintain a consistent, calm, and empathetic approach at all times
What We’re Looking For
- A compassionate, patient, and resilient individual
- Experience supporting individuals with ALN/PMLD (desirable)
- Manual Handling training (desirable but not essential)
- Experience or awareness of PEG feeding and personal care
- A strong willingness to learn and develop new skills
- A proactive and positive attitude

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
