Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Working Pattern: Thursday & Friday
Hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm (1-hour lunch break)
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our school team for two days per week. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school and will be confident leading learning activities and providing class cover when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver planned lessons and learning activities to whole classes, small groups, and individual pupils.
- Provide class cover in the absence of the teacher, ensuring continuity of learning.
- Support pupils to make progress across the curriculum and achieve their individual targets.
- Work closely with teachers to plan, prepare, and evaluate learning activities.
- Assess, monitor, and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teaching staff.
- Deliver intervention programmes to support academic, social, and emotional development.
- Promote positive behaviour and maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and external professionals.
Essential Requirements
- HLTA qualification or substantial experience working at HLTA level.
- Experience within a primary school setting.
- Confidence in managing a classroom and delivering lessons independently.
- Strong behaviour management skills.
- Excellent communication, literacy, and numeracy skills.
- Ability to work flexibly and use initiative to meet the needs of the school.
- A positive, professional, and proactive approach.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic HLTA who can confidently support teaching and learning across a range of year groups, provide effective classroom cover, and contribute to raising pupil achievement and engagement.
