A national organisation is seeking a Procurement Officer to support a major programme of vehicle, machinery and equipment procurement, initially for 12 months, with review for a further 2 years of support. This role offers the chance to contribute to high-impact environmental and engineering projects while developing your procurement expertise within a collaborative technical team.The successful candidate will oversee the full procurement life cycle for a wide range of specialist assets, ensuring compliance, value for money and timely delivery. You will work closely with technical managers, project leads and commercial colleagues to support strategic investment and operational delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Procurement planning – Lead the development, planning and implementation of procurement activities, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policy.
- Stakeholder collaboration – Work with project leads, end users and regional teams to deliver effective and timely procurement outcomes.
- Supplier & market engagement – Maintain strong supplier relationships and stay informed about available assets and market developments.
- Financial forecasting – Monitor expenditure and produce accurate procurement and forecasting reports.
- Technical assessment – Interpret asset specifications and quotation data to support value-for-money decisions.
- Governance & compliance – Ensure procurement procedures are followed, and financial responsibilities are met.
- Asset life cycle support – Support end-of-life asset disposal and contribute to capital investment planning.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Technical experience in vehicle fleet or machinery (supplier or procurement side).
- Strong stakeholder relationship-building skills.
- Analytical ability to assess procurement returns and support sound decision-making.
- High competence in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft tools.
- IT literacy, including experience with management accounting systems.
