CNC Production Engineer
UK | Precision Engineering (Motorsport & F1) | Competitive Salary Shorterm Group are working with a leading precision manufacturing business supporting the Motorsport and Formula 1 sectors, recruiting for an experienced CNC Production Engineer.
The Role You'll play a key role in bridging engineering, CNC programming, and production, developing efficient machining processes for high-precision components. This is a hands-on position focused on improving quality, reducing cost, and supporting performance on the shop floor in a fast-paced, high-spec environment.
Key Responsibilities – Program 3-5 axis CNC machines using NCG, Hypermill or EdgeCAM – Set and optimise Heidenhain-controlled machines, tooling, and cutting strategies – Apply DFM principles to improve manufacturability and reduce cycle times – Support production teams with technical troubleshooting and process improvements – Create work instructions, SOPs, and routing documentation – Lead process capability and continuous improvement initiatives – Support New Product Introduction (NPI) from concept through to production
Requirements – Proven experience in high-precision CNC machining (Motorsport/F1/Aerospace desirable) – Strong CNC programming and CAM experience – Good understanding of GD&T, cutting tools, and manufacturing processes – Experience with Heidenhain controls – Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) or equivalent experience – Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
