Planet Recruitment are working with a well-established and innovative manufacturing organisation in Abingdon who are seeking an experienced Production Engineering Team Leader to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineering professional to lead a Production Engineering department, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and provide technical support across multiple business functions.

The Role

As the Production Engineering Team Lead, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the Production Engineering team, ensuring workloads are effectively prioritised and supporting operational and engineering objectives across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the daily activities of the Production Engineering team.
  • Define team priorities and allocate workloads effectively.
  • Collaborate with Production teams to resolve day-to-day manufacturing issues.
  • Investigate production line rejects and identify root causes.
  • Support change control processes and software system testing.
  • Drive continuous improvement, lean manufacturing and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Support testing protocols and validation activities for new and revised products.
  • Work alongside Purchasing and Sourcing teams on sample approvals and supplier validation activities.
  • Assist with new supplier and product verification activities, including occasional supplier visits where required.
  • Train, mentor and develop team members to enhance skills and performance.
  • Provide support for product lifecycle management, including component obsolescence, quality improvements and functional enhancements.
  • Collaborate with Quality and Regulatory teams on investigations, corrective actions and preventative measures.
  • Support the introduction of new products into manufacturing.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Degree or HNC qualification in an Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of five years' experience within a design, manufacturing or production engineering environment.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven planning, organisational and change management experience.
