Programme Architect

Specsavers

Are you a retail architect who gets excited about shaping the future of customer experiences at a global scale? At Specsavers, we're looking for a Programme Architect to play a critical role in one of our most important value streams, Retail. This is an opportunity to influence how millions of customers interact with our brand, whether that's in-store, online, or through the increasingly connected experiences that sit between the two.

This is far more than a traditional architecture role. You'll be the architectural leader for major global retail programmes, owning the end-to-end architecture vision and ensuring technology solutions support both immediate business outcomes and long-term strategic goals. You'll work across complex transformation initiatives, bringing together business and technology stakeholders to create scalable, secure, and future-ready solutions that support the evolution of Specsavers' retail ecosystem.

We're specifically looking for someone with strong retail architecture experience. You'll bring proven expertise designing and delivering technology solutions across the retail landscape, including in-store retail platforms, point-of-sale solutions, e-commerce platforms, customer journeys, and payment ecosystems. You'll understand the unique challenges of modern omnichannel retail and have experience creating architectures that seamlessly connect digital and physical customer experiences.

You'll thrive in this role if you have a strong background in cloud-native architecture, modern integration strategies, and large-scale enterprise transformation. Experience with AWS, Azure or GCP, alongside expertise in microservices, API-first design, event-driven architectures, and real-time retail operations will be key. You'll be comfortable operating in modern technology environments using MACH principles, composable commerce solutions, and contemporary front-end technologies, helping shape the future retail technology landscape across Specsavers.

What makes this opportunity particularly exciting is the scale and complexity. You'll provide architectural leadership across multiple programme workstreams, guiding key technical decisions, managing risks, and acting as the trusted advisor to programme leaders and senior stakeholders. You'll ensure architecture remains aligned to business priorities while mentoring architects and engineering teams, helping to build capability across the wider organisation.

We're looking for somebody who can comfortably bridge the gap between business and technology. You'll be equally at home discussing strategic business outcomes with senior stakeholders as you are challenging technical design decisions with engineering teams. Your ability to simplify complex concepts, influence decisions, and drive collaboration across product, engineering, architecture, and business teams will be crucial to your success.

If you're passionate about retail technology, have deep experience across both e-commerce and in-store retail architectures, and want the opportunity to define the architecture behind some of Specsavers' most significant transformation programmes, we'd love to hear from you. Join us as a Programme Architect and help shape the future of retail experiences for millions of customers worldwide
