Project Engineer – Process Water Treatment (Data Centres)
- Location: On-site / Mallow, Co. Cork, Ireland (with office, site, and hybrid flexibility depending on project phase)
- Position: Permanent / Full-time
- Sector: Engineering | General
- Salary: Highly Competitive
The Opportunity
Driven by unprecedented growth and the secures of multiple flagship data centre utility water and process water treatment projects, our client is rapidly expanding their elite MEICA engineering team.
As an international water infrastructure specialist and a true end-to-end service provider operating across the UK, Ireland, and Northern Europe, our client has spent over 50 years delivering market-leading, net-zero-committed technologies. They are now seeking a high-calibre Project Engineer with robust technical expertise in water treatment processes to champion the delivery of critical process-water systems across Ireland and Europe.
This is a dynamic, varied role that seamlessly blends design coordination, project delivery, site engineering, and commissioning support. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, supply-chain partners, and major global data centre operators to deliver high-reliability infrastructure for mission-critical cooling, humidification, and process applications.

Key Responsibilities
As a Project Engineer, you will take total ownership of advanced water treatment installations within live and construction-stage data centre environments:
- Project Engineering & Delivery: Manage and support all mechanical, electrical, and ICA aspects of installations. You will interpret P&IDs, technical drawings, and functional control narratives while supporting the design team with innovative solutions (including RO, UF, ion exchange, dosing, and filtration).
- Procurement & Scheduling: Coordinate procurement activities, including the selection and ordering of pumps, skids, valves, instruments, and control systems. Develop comprehensive project schedules that bridge the gap from design through to commissioning.
- System Integration: Oversee the installation, integration, and performance validation of complex systems (Reverse Osmosis, Ultrafiltration, softening, chemical dosing, and high-purity polishing systems). Ensure seamless integration with cooling towers, adiabatic coolers, and chilled-water loops.
- Commissioning & Quality: Monitor process stability and water quality parameters to meet strict operational requirements. Actively support commissioning teams during FAT/SAT, functional testing, start-up, and client handover.
- Safety & Site Leadership: Manage site labour, subcontractors, and daily installation activities. Partner with internal HSQE teams to enforce best-in-class safety standards and author critical engineering documentation, including method statements, risk assessments, and O&M manuals.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as a central point of contact for clients, consultants, and vendors. Attend progress meetings, technical reviews, and lead training processes for client operations teams.
What You Will Bring
To excel in this critical role, you will need:
- Technical Background: Strong, demonstrable technical expertise in water treatment processes and a solid understanding of MEICA engineering principles.
- Capability: Proven experience interpreting P&IDs, managing site contractors, and navigating the lifecycle of a project from design to handover.
- Sector Familiarity: Prior experience or a strong understanding of high-reliability, mission-critical environments (such as data centres) is highly advantageous.
- Drive: Exceptional coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with a steadfast commitment to health and safety standards.
What's in It for You?
Our client's core vision is to build the best, most rewarding place to work for their teams. By joining them, you will benefit from:
- Top-Tier Compensation: A highly competitive salary package reflective of your expertise.
- Career Growth: Unrivalled opportunities to scale your career within a rapidly growing sector alongside an industry-leading team.
- Project Diversity: Exposure to high-value, cutting-edge data centre utility projects across Ireland and Europe.
- Professional Environment: A supportive, safety-conscious, and collaborative culture backed by a CPD-accredited employer.
