Project Manager (Financial Systems & Payments)
Location: Remote (U.S. based candidates only)
Rate: $40/hour
Contract: Through December 2028
Overview
An established national organisation is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support and enhance its financial systems environment. This role will focus on customer payment processing, financial system optimisation, and fraud mitigation, driving improvements in accuracy, performance, and operational resilience.
You will work at the intersection of business and technology, leading cross-functional initiatives and ensuring financial systems operate effectively while supporting evolving business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end project management of financial systems initiatives from ideation through delivery
- Drive process improvement efforts to enhance performance, accuracy, and efficiency across financial operations
- Oversee systems supporting inbound customer payments and payment fraud prevention, ensuring strong controls and risk mitigation
- Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and IT teams, supporting system enhancements, development, and implementation
- Support systems testing, deployment, and ongoing optimisation of financial modules
- Ensure appropriate security, controls, and compliance standards are maintained
- Contribute to or develop business cases for new initiatives and improvements
- Manage prioritisation, scheduling, and resource allocation for project deliverables
- Identify and resolve system and operational issues, driving continuous improvement
- Support development of decision engines, rules-based systems, and automation processes
- Provide guidance and mentorship to team members on both operational and technical topics

- Cash controls and reconciliations

- Payment fraud detection and prevention
- Financial systems optimisation
- AI-enabled tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot) for efficiency and insights
- Problem and incident management
Required Experience & Skills
- 5+ years of Project and/or Product Management experience, working across both business and technology teams
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects in complex environments
- Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to gather, document, and translate requirements
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and deliver results
- Experience with financial systems, payments, or fraud-related processes
- Self-motivated, organised, and capable of working independently in a remote environment
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Background in financial operations, payments, or telecom/media environments (or similarly scaled organisations)
- Strong analytical mindset with experience improving systems and processes
- Comfortable working with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders
- Exposure to or experience with AI tools to improve workflows and productivity
