Location: Chesterfield (4 days office / 1 day WFH)
Salary: £50,000 – £65,000 + Bonus & Benefits
Project Engineer Opportunity
An established engineering business delivering complex industrial process plant projects is seeking a Lead Process Engineer to join its growing team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Chemical or Process Engineer who enjoys combining technical engineering with project delivery responsibilities. You will play a key role in supporting the design, execution, installation and commissioning of process plant projects, working closely with clients, suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
The role offers significant variety, combining process engineering, project coordination, client interaction and site-based activities, with opportunities to develop into more senior technical and project leadership positions.
Project Engineer Key Responsibilities
- Lead process engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, from concept and design through to installation and commissioning.
- Produce and review process engineering deliverables including process flow diagrams, P&IDs, calculations and technical specifications.
- Develop equipment specifications and scopes of work for suppliers and contractors.
- Coordinate technical activities across engineering disciplines to ensure successful project delivery.
- Support process safety reviews, risk assessments and engineering design studies.
- Act as a key technical interface between clients, suppliers and internal project teams.
- Review vendor documentation and support procurement activities.
- Provide technical support during installation, commissioning and performance testing.
- Assist with the development of operating procedures and engineering documentation.
- Participate in site visits and occasional travel as projects require.
About You
We are interested in speaking with engineers who have experience within industrial process environments, manufacturing facilities, process plant projects or engineering contractors.
You will ideally have:
- Degree qualification in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience delivering engineering projects within a process, manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong understanding of process engineering fundamentals, including process calculations, equipment selection and plant operation.
- Experience developing process flow diagrams and P&IDs.
- Exposure to process safety studies, risk assessments or engineering design reviews.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clients, suppliers and project teams.
- A structured and practical approach to problem solving.
