SALARY: £36,363 to £39,862 per annum (Pay Award Pending) + Benefits

LOCATION: Hybrid / Working, Berkshire

WORKING HOURS: 37.5 Hours per Week

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Public Health Officer / Practitioner to join a dedicated public health team on a full-time, permanent basis.

As a Public Health Officer / Practitioner you will support the development, delivery and project management of public health programmes that improve health outcomes, reduce health inequalities and support community wellbeing.

The Public Health Officer / Practitioner will work with colleagues, local communities, NHS partners, voluntary sector organisations and other agencies to identify population health needs, develop evidence-based action plans and support effective service delivery.

This varied role may cover areas such as NHS Health Checks, community public health, population mental health, health protection, and sexual and reproductive health.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Public Health Officer / Practitioner include:

  • Programme Delivery: Support public health programmes that improve local health outcomes and address health inequalities
  • Population Health: Use data, community insight and evidence to identify local health needs and inform service planning
  • Partnership Working: Work with council teams, NHS partners, voluntary sector organisations and local communities
  • Project Support: Help develop needs assessments, strategies, action plans, JSNA chapters and ward profiles
  • Commissioning: Contribute to impact assessments, cost-benefit analysis, business cases and service specifications
  • Performance Monitoring: Track outcomes, monitor indicators and support dashboards, reports and project updates
  • Health Campaigns: Design and deliver health and wellbeing messages and promote local, regional and national campaigns
  • Health Protection: Support incident and outbreak management within the local area when required

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant experience in public health or related field
  • An understanding of population health and its inter-relationship with other factors, as well as the political and organisation sensitivities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentations, with an ability to vary style to meet the needs of the audience
  • Experience of working with stakeholders and project sponsor/s demonstrating the ability to negotiate, persuade and influence
