Seymour John is proud to be supporting a food manufacturer based in Minsterley, Shropshire who due to retirement seek to recruit a QA Manager. Reporting to the Factory Manager, as QA Manager you will play a key leadership role within the Technical Department, ensuring that food safety, quality, and compliance are consistently upheld across the site. You’ll lead, develop, and motivate the Quality Assurance and Technical Support team, drive continuous improvement, and ensure all products leaving our factory meet our exacting standards and those of our customers and regulators.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead, coach, and develop the QA and Technical team to deliver excellence in quality and compliance.
• Maintain and enhance the site’s Food Safety Management System in line with BRCGS, retailer standards, and legal requirements.
• Be able to play a leading role during audits — including BRCGS, customer, and regulatory inspections.
• Drive a proactive food safety and quality culture across all departments.
• Manage supplier approvals, non-conformances, customer complaints, and root cause investigations, ensuring effective corrective and preventive actions.
• Oversee raw material, WIP, and finished product quality controls and testing regimes.
• Lead HACCP reviews, site risk assessments, and the quality and food safety management processes.
• Ensure full compliance with labelling, specifications, and legislative changes.
• Analyse quality data, trends, KPIs, and customer feedback to identify areas for improvement and implement robust solutions.
About You
We are looking for someone who brings both technical expertise and leadership capability. You should have:
• Experience in a technical / quality leadership role within the food manufacturing industry.
• Strong knowledge of BRCGS Food Safety and retailer technical standards.
• HACCP Level 3 or above (ideally Level 4).
• Excellent communication, influencing, and team–leadership skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, continuous improvement mindset.
• Confidence managing audits and customer relationships.
