Quality Engineer – Aerospace Manufacturing
Greater Manchester
The Opportunity
We are supporting a well-established precision engineering business operating within highly regulated sectors, including aerospace and defence. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join their quality team at their Greater Manchester facility.
Working closely with manufacturing, engineering, suppliers, and customers, you will contribute to driving quality improvements across the business while ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate and respond to non-conformances, ensuring robust corrective and preventive actions are implemented
- Support Material Review Board (MRB) activities and concession management
- Conduct internal audits and support external customer and accreditation audits
- Maintain and improve Quality Management Systems (QMS/IMS)
- Support the maintenance of industry approvals and accreditations
- Assist with calibration management and verification of inspection equipment
- Analyse quality data and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and quality documentation
- Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, suppliers, and customers to resolve quality issues
- Produce quality reports and communicate findings to key stakeholders as required
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a Quality Engineer position within a manufacturing environment
- Aerospace manufacturing experience is essential
- Strong working knowledge of AS9100 and aerospace quality requirements
- Experience conducting internal and/or external audits
- Sound understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS/IMS)
- Experience managing non-conformances, MRB activities, and concession processes
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Experience using inspection equipment including manual gauges, CMM, and vision systems such as Keyence
- Strong problem-solving skills and experience with root cause analysis methodologies
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Previous time-served inspection experience would be advantageous
- Exposure to Nadcap requirements would be highly desirable
- Knowledge of FAIR preparation and APQP/PPAP processes would be beneficial
