Major Recruitment Oldbury are delighted to be recruiting for our Kingswinford based client who are seeking a Quality Engineer to work in their engineering department.
Hours of work are Monday to Thursday 8am to 4.15pm and a 2pm finish on Fridays
Duties and tasks will include:
• Lead the APQP process from initial concept through to successful manufacturing launch.
• Utilising error proofing, lean continuous improvement methodologies
• Author and maintain critical risk documentation including PFMEA, and Control Plans, QCIC, SOP, GIS and process documentation
• Conduct Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) studies.
• Coordinate initial sample inspection reports (ISIR) (FAIR) and component dimension layouts.
• Compile and submit comprehensive PPAP level submissions, and medical validation protocols including Installation Operational Performance Qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ).
• Manage the International Material Data System (IMDS) submissions for automotive products.
• Ensure compliance standards REACH, RoHS, and medical traceability protocol requirements
• Serve as the NPI quality contact for customers and supplier
• Solve pre-production quality issues using 8D, 5-Why, and Ishikawa root-cause tools.
• Conduct internal product and process audits to verify the stability of new assembly processes.
• Representing company Industries during key customer launch audits and initial trial and safe launch activities
• Audit external suppliers to verify their NPI readiness and component quality.
• Identify and promote technological awareness and innovation.
• Keep Management fully appraised of significant occurrences and trends that impact the quality of product or manufacturing operations
Candidates welcome to apply for the role will have the following:
• Dual-Sector Expertise: Minimum 3–5 years of quality engineering experience handling both automotive and medical device manufacturing.
• HNC or equivalent, time served NPI Quality Engineer
• Metal pressings production / manufacturing environment
• Good working knowledge of IAFT16949 & other QMS standards
• Core Tools – APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC & IMDS
• Metrology & engineering drawings (GD&T) and using precision measurement tools.
