Owen Daniels are supporting a well-established and growing manufacturing business, is seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to join their quality team. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented individual with a strong manufacturing background and experience interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring products meet customer specifications and internal quality standards, working closely with production and engineering teams to maintain the highest levels of quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out first-off, in-process and final inspection of manufactured components.
- Inspect parts using a range of manual measuring equipment including verniers, micrometers, height gauges and gauges.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and quality documentation.
- Apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) principles during inspection activities.
- Record inspection results and maintain accurate quality documentation.
- Identify and report non-conformances, supporting root cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to resolve quality issues.
- Ensure compliance with company quality procedures and relevant industry standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing process.
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Quality Inspector within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Strong understanding and practical application of GD&T.
- Ability to confidently read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
- Experience using a variety of manual inspection and measuring equipment.
- Good attention to detail with a methodical approach to inspection.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Competent with inspection records and quality documentation.
Desirable Skills
- Experience inspecting welded fabrications or welded assemblies would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Knowledge of welding processes and weld inspection would be beneficial.
- Experience with CMM equipment or programming would be an advantage.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems.
