Swindon | £35,000 per annum + Bonus | 8:30 am – 5 pm | Monday to Friday | Permanent | European travel required as part of the role.

Introduction

Acorn by Synergie are seeking individuals with expertise in the furniture industry, particularly those who have dealt with the quality aspects of assembling self-build flat packs for their client.

This is a hands-on Quality Manager role working on the largest retail account, handling quality issues and ensuring products meet both internal standards and client expectations.

The role is based near Swindon, with the possibility of occasional remote work after completing the initial three months of training.

Key Duties

  • Handle quality issues across furniture, fixtures and retail equipment projects.

  • Read and interpret technical design packages and manufacturing details to allow full and accurate quality control inspections to be carried out.

  • Work in the warehouse assembling fixtures, including furniture and mannequins, created outside the UK.

  • Ensure all product ordered by the company is fit for purpose, consistent and meets both internal standards and client expectations.

  • Develop and maintain current quality control standards and actively improve these.

  • Act as the first point of contact for quality issues for the company supply and manufacturing base.

  • Maintain and build supplier relations to increase product quality.

  • Conduct quality control checks in line with company standards.

  • Act as a conduit between third-party QC agencies and the Far East supply base.

  • Monitor and advise on the performance of the quality control system.

  • Liaise with internal departments to execute the quality control process.

  • Record all inspections accurately within the quality control format.

  • Attend manufacturing facilities when required to carry out quality control inspections.

  • Support Design Managers in the interest of quality control.

  • Devise and further established quality control procedures, standards and specifications.

  • Review technical specifications and client requirements ensuring these are met in manufacturing production.

  • Work closely with the design team and purchasing staff to establish quality requirements.

  • Set standards for quality and health and safety.

  • Ensure manufacturing and production processes meet required company and client standards.

  • Identify areas for improvement in reducing product waste and increasing manufacturing efficiency.

  • Establish and maintain controls and document procedures within quality control.

  • Maintain an accurate quality control reporting system documenting all QC checks in the UK, Europe and Far East supply.

  • Provide and maintain weekly tracking documents for quality controlled product.

Requirements

  • Degree educated or comparable qualification and/or experience.

  • Five GCSE grades A/B or O Levels, including English and Maths.

  • Extensive experience in retail equipment/interiors or a comparable industry.

  • Extensive familiarity with Microsoft packages.

  • Strong experience within a quality control role, inspections and quality reporting.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical design packages and manufacturing details.

  • Detailed understanding of manufacturing and finishing details.

  • Organised and capable of managing multiple quality issues at once.
