Teaching Assistant – Reception Class (1:1 SEND Support)

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming Primary School in Tameside. This rewarding role will involve providing 1:1 support for a child in Reception with additional needs.
The successful candidate will have previous experience working within a school setting supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Experience supporting non-verbal children and pupils with autism would be highly beneficial.
This role requires someone who is patient, nurturing, and committed to helping children achieve their full potential. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to provide tailored support throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing 1:1 support for a child in Reception
- Supporting the child's learning, development, and social interaction
- Implementing strategies to support communication and engagement
- Assisting with personal care when required
- Building positive relationships with the child, staff, and parents
- Promoting a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Previous SEND experience within a school setting
- Experience supporting children with autism and/or non-verbal communication needs
- A caring, patient, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
