Residential Property Solicitor – Senior / Head of Conveyancing

Senior Residential Conveyancing Solicitor Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and ambitious Residential Property Solicitor to join a growing law firm in Horsham, West Sussex, in a senior leadership role. This position is ideal for a Senior Residential Conveyancing Solicitor or an existing Head of Conveyancing looking to lead and further develop a residential property department.

This role is open to solicitors with 3+ years’ post-qualification experience (PQE) who are ready to take responsibility for departmental leadership, client service and strategic growth.

The Role

The successful Residential Property Solicitor will head up the Residential Conveyancing team, taking responsibility for both fee-earning and departmental development. You will manage a varied and high-quality residential conveyancing caseload while leading and mentoring the wider team.

You will oversee all aspects of residential property transactions, ensuring excellent client care, technical quality and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a full caseload of residential conveyancing matters, including:
    • Registered and unregistered properties
    • Freehold and leasehold transactions
    • First-time buyer transactions
    • Help to Buy and shared ownership schemes
    • Re-mortgages and equity release
    • Landlord and tenant lease work
    • Sales, purchases and investment properties
    • Portfolio management and residential finance matters
  • Leading, supervising and mentoring the residential conveyancing team
  • Ensuring efficient file management and compliance with regulatory standards
  • Contributing to business development, growth strategy and process improvement
  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients, agents, lenders and referrers

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales
  • 3+ years’ PQE in residential conveyancing
  • Strong technical knowledge across the full scope of residential property law
  • Proven ability to manage matters independently and supervise others
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Commercially aware, proactive and client-focused
  • Ambitious and motivated, with an interest in leadership and department growth
