Residential Support Worker

We are seeking a dedicated Residential Support Worker to join our Children and Young People's Services team. This role is crucial in providing a safe, nurturing environment for young people, ensuring their care meets high standards of personal care, respect, and dignity. The successful candidate will be instrumental in promoting positive outcomes and supporting the diverse needs of young people in our care.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
- Ensure all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements and organisational policies.
- Actively promote and safeguard the welfare of the young people you are responsible for.
- Work shifts on a rota basis, including evenings, weekends, and potentially sleep-ins and waking nights.
- Maintain a consistent, well-ordered environment respecting cultural, racial, and religious differences.
- Supervise and support young people in developing independent living skills and participate in recreational activities.
- Collaborate with a team to provide a range of activities and support for young people.
- Engage in professional communication with staff, young people, family members, social workers, educational staff, and other professionals.
- Manage administrative tasks related to the care of young people, including record-keeping and reporting.
- Assist in developing and implementing behaviour management strategies.
- Support the healthcare and educational needs of young people.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Demonstrable knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Children’s Home (England) Regulations 2015 and the Children Act 1989.
- Experience working in Residential Children's Homes
- Experience in an Ofsted registered setting
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently, managing a varied workload.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, and the ability to manage challenging behaviours.
- NVQ level 3 in Child Care or the motivation to work towards gaining this qualification is highly desirable.
- Empathy, sensitivity, and the ability to build trusting relationships with young people.
