Job Title: Saw Operative

Duration: Temp to perm or perm
Shifts: Nights Monday – Thursday: 4:45 pm to 03:15 am
Pay Rate: DOE
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Saw Operative to join a busy and well-established engineering manufacturing business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous workshop experience who is looking for a long-term position with excellent rates of pay, regular overtime, and outstanding employee benefits.
Working within the machine shop, you will be responsible for cutting steel tube and bar stock to specification using automated band saws, ensuring all materials are prepared accurately and efficiently to meet production requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpreting engineering drawings and job specifications
- Setting and operating automated band saw machinery
- Cutting steel tube and rod to precise measurements
- Performing routine quality inspections to ensure accuracy
- Unloading incoming deliveries safely
- Using slings and overhead gantry cranes to move materials
- Organising and maintaining stock of raw materials
- Managing stock rotation of tube and bar
- Maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe working environment
- Following all health and safety procedures
- Supporting the wider production team as required
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience operating machinery in a manufacturing or workshop environment
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently
- Flexible approach to work and willingness to assist in other areas when needed
Desirable Skills
- Experience working within an engineering or fabrication environment
- Previous use of automated band saws
- Valid forklift truck licence
- Experience using overhead cranes and lifting equipment
