Your new company Hays Education are working in partnership with a well-established and reputable secondary school in Wigan to recruit a School Business Manager for a September start. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking school at a pivotal time, following the upcoming retirement of a long-standing postholder. Your new role This is a varied and integral leadership position within the school, combining both strategic and operational responsibilities. The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day management of the school office, ensuring efficient administrative systems and processes are in place, while also leading on financial operations. Responsibilities will include budget planning and monitoring, financial reporting, managing income and expenditure, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. In addition, you will be responsible for line managing administrative staff and supporting the wider leadership team with operational decision-making. What you'll need to succeed The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within a school setting, ideally in a School Business Manager or senior administrative capacity, with strong knowledge of school finance and office management. You will need to be highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities within a busy secondary school environment. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential, along with confidence in overseeing both financial processes and administrative teams. Experience with relevant school systems and financial software will be highly advantageous.
